The Cobb community descended upon the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre Nov. 5 for the 20th annual ‘Give Our Schools A Hand’ Pep Rally. The event caps a month-long celebration of the county’s best educators from the Cobb County School District, Marietta City Schools and the county’s local higher education institutions. Teachers of the Year from every school in Cobb were on hand, cheered on by more than 2,000 students, staff, and community supporters.

The North Cobb High School marching band led the Teachers of the Year into the Cobb Energy Centre, where they were given a deafening welcome from the packed crowd.

Honorees’ family members, fellow staff and students were amongst the supporters.

Entertainment was provided by students from Pebblebrook High School’s Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts, opening with “It’s Raining Men.”

The Company troupe finished with a performance of “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” made popular by pop group The Backstreet Boys.

Cobb Teachers of the Year Angela Fenton, Karen Stargel and Scott Stephens cheered The Company’s performance. The Ed Voyles Automotive Group awarded a one-year lease on a new car to each of these District-level winners.

Superintendent Fred Sanderson greeted each school’s Teacher of the Year as they accepted honorary plaques from the Chamber of Commerce. Harmony-Leland Elementary winner Shunta Williams is pictured with the Superintendent.

Fazeela Hoosasainy of Sedalia Park Elementary is greeted by Mr. Sanderson.

The honorees were all smiles as they soaked in the energy and emotion of the event.

All of the Teachers of the Year remained after the pep rally for a luncheon in their honor. All of these festivities were made possible by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, who continues to fervently support public education in Cobb County.
