School Traffic Delays Expected

UPDATE 9/17/2015

UPDATE: The new starting point for construction of Section 1 of the East Cobb Pipeline Project will be on Terrell Mill Road just north of Haverford Lane (near the fire station). The first construction segment will extend to Greenwood Trail.

Drivers can expect traffic delays to begin on Friday, September 18 as crews begin to prepare the road to shift traffic flow to accommodate the construction area. This process will take about a week, and traffic control personnel will be on hand to guide drivers and help keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible in both directions. Also during this time, drivers will see crews move the barricades, materials and equipment into place. As soon as the barricades are in place, crews will start work on the pipeline.

Construction of Section 1 will progress west on Terrell Mill Road and stop at Powers Ferry Road. This is expected to take about 8 months, weather permitting. Work on Section 2 will begin in October. Section 2 begins on the west side of Powers Ferry Road and will progress west, mostly along Terrell Mill Road, to US 41.

UPDATE 9/11/2015

East Cobb Pipeline Lane Closures Delayed

Originally slated to begin road work on September 12, 2015, the contractor on the East Cobb Pipeline project has encountered an unexpected conflict underground that by repairing could significantly delay the start date. Instead, crews are going to shift the start point just south of Terrell Mill Park. The exact location will be announced and preparations will start as soon as plans are finalized and coordinated with Cobb County Department of Transportation (DOT) and others.

The tentative start date for lane closures is now Saturday, September 19.

Please check for updates. CCMWA will provide confirmed start times and locations for the lane closures as soon as possible so drivers know what to expect.
