Allatoona High School Takes State Class AAAAA Championship

With a 10-6 win over Glynn Academy at the Georgia Dome, Allatoona High School became the first Cobb County School District program to win the Class AAAAA state championship. This victory is made even more sweet by the fact that this is just the Buccaneers’ eighth season. Coach Gary Varner, who has been with the program since the school’s opening, wraps up the season with 14 straight wins.

The game was scoreless in the first half and the Bucs only needed one touchdown by senior quarterback Brandon Rainey in the second to take and keep the lead. Allatoona’s defense held Glynn to just 6 points and a 29-yard field goal by Skyler Davis in the closing minutes put the championship firmly in the hands of Cobb’s youngest high school. Congratulations to the players, coaches, administration and students at Allatoona High for a great season and a year for the record books!
