The Cobb County School District honored a phenomenal teacher today as part of Phenomenal Friday, a teacher recognition program. Aileen Pruitt, a third grade teacher at Fair Oaks Elementary School, was chosen for the award by Pedro Ortiz, a fifth grader at the school. When Pedro was asked which teacher has helped him the most to succeed, he had a clear answer: it was Ms. Pruitt; she had been his fourth grade teacher.
Pruitt was surprised by the Phenomenal Friday Team during the morning news show that included district HR Staff Member Tyler Gwynn, Brooke Cotton, Garolyn Parris, Nadia Reis, Denise Taliaferro, and even the Chick-fil-A cow. She was presented with a certificate and a bucket of goodies from the school district and Chick-fil-A. Pruitt was all smiles (and a few tears) as Pedro spoke about the impact she’s had on his life.
The Phenomenal Friday program was created to express the district’s appreciation for those teachers who best demonstrate our vision of “One Team, One Goal: Student Success.”
