Among all the student artists across the state of Georgia, two Lost Mountain Middle School students rose above the rest. The Georgia Art Education Association (GAEA) selected the art of eighth graders Emma Martinez and Sarah Margate to represent Georgia during Youth Art Month (YAM).
GAEA only chose eight pieces of student art out of the state to include in the Georgia YAM flag. In March, the flag will go on display at the National Art Education Association (NAEA) conference in New York.
Emma and Sarah’s artwork supported the state theme of “commUNITY.” Their art is positioned in the upper right and upper left corners of Georgia YAM flag.
The YAM contest was open to K-12 students, who have a teacher who is a member of the NAEA.
