Coach Steve Jones Inducted Into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

Cobb County School District congratulates, Steve Jones, CCSD Director of Athletics, on his induction into the Georgia Athletic Director’s Association Hall of Fame at the 2017 GADA Conference in Savannah on March 26.

Coach Steve Jones began his career with CCSD in 1974 at Campbell High School as a Social Studies teacher and Assistant Coach for Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He has also served as an Assistant Football Coach at McEachern and Walton High Schools as well as Head Football Coach at Walton during his tenure. When he served as Athletic Director at Walton, the Raiders won eight state championships in five years and received the prestigious Directors Cup in 2007 for overall excellence.

His administrative career began in 2002 as an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Walton High School. Steve was named the Cobb County School District Director of Athletics in 2007.

Jones created and implemented a countywide extra-curricular code of conduct for athletics, oversaw the installation of synthetic turf fields for all of the county’s high schools, and organized the countywide online athletic registration system. Jones currently oversees all 16 schools and 650 coaches.

He currently serves as the Chairman of the Metro RESA Athletic Directors Association and is a member of the Georgia High School Association Executive Committee.
