Hightower Trail Middle School recently joined a community effort for Haiti relief spearheaded by the East Cobb Church of Christ with participants from four other local churches, Wal-Mart and the Home Depot. From January 19-29, Hightower Trail was a collection center for donated items to the Haiti relief campaign. The school’s goal was to fill a 24-foot trailer which would be emptied into a 40-foot shipping container. Donations of clothing, school supplies, household and medical supplies filled more than 135 boxes. Hightower Trail students volunteered to packed the supplies. The trailer was loaded by school staff, students, and community volunteers.
In addition to Hightower Trail being the receiving center, the Home Depot at Merchant’s Walk provided the boxes, the East Cobb Church of Christ provided the trailer and Wal-Mart provided the shipping to Miami. Haiti relief banners were donated by Bone Safety Signs. Bone Safety Signs and the Home Depot are Partners in Education with Hightower Trail Middle School.
