“[She] makes you want to pay attention more because you never know when she is going to pop up with a fun story.” That’s why fifth grader Kayden said he selected Lynn Sieland as the Phenomenal Friday Teacher of the Week August 11.
After hearing Kayden make the proclamation over the morning announcements, Sieland hugged her student and wiped away tears.
“I was completely surprised. I had no idea,” the Phenomenal Teacher said. “What an amazing feeling! These kids are awesome. To have [Kayden] recognize me in that way is so meaningful.”
Reading is one Sieland’s passions, which she has successfully passed on to her students. Kayden credited her with inspiring him to read. For Sieland, hearing how she has impacted Kayden’s interest in reading makes her job as a teacher worth it.
“What he said about reading is everything,” Sieland added. “Reading will bring things to life. Reading will take you places. Reading will make you better at everything.”
According to Kayden, Sieland makes learning fun by telling stories related to the lessons she is teaching.
“I’ve never had a teacher who has done that,” he said. “It makes class so fun!”
To say “thank you” for her service to her students, Sieland walked away with gifts from Chick-fil-A and the Cobb County School District Phenomenal Friday team.
