The City of Acworth was recently named a 2010 All-America City by the National Civic League, based on three projects focused on supporting Cobb students! A caravan of Acworth officials, business owners and community leaders. including Barber Middle School principal Lisa Williams, traveled to Kansas City, MO to make a presentation for the NCL judges. The delegation’s presentation wowed the judges and also won the multimedia popular vote award.
Applicant cities were required to show three community projects helping meet local needs. Acworth submitted its Horizon Field, featuring sports fields for children with special needs; the Expanding Horizons program, which funds educational trips for students; and the Acworth Achievers after-school and mentoring program.
