New Principal Profile Q&A: Dean Yoder, Fair Oaks Elementary

Question: What do you want your new school family to know about you and why you are excited to join them?
Answer: “I am dedicated to making Fair Oaks the best school in Cobb County for students to attend and for staff members to work. The Fair Oaks team is a close-knit group that has built strong community ties in which everyone pulls together for the success of all. I am very excited about being part of the Fair Oaks family and becoming a part of this community.

Question: What does student achievement look like for you?
Answer: “Student success is when students are engaged and using their skills and knowledge they have acquired to demonstrate content mastery.”

Question: Outside school, where might students, parents, or staff members run into you?
Answer: “[They may find me] running in 5K’s or running on the Battlefield off of Whitlock. I also like to take my grandsons to The Battery to run in the sprinklers during the hot summer days.”

Question: Why did you decide to become a principal?
Answer: “I wanted to be able to make a larger impact on student success outside of my classroom and for students to have a positive school experience.”

Question: What’s your favorite memory as an educator?
Answer: “My favorite part is when former students come back to let me know how successful they are and how much I played a part in that success.”
