As members of the Cobb County High School Coalition, students from across the Cobb County. School District will come together March 2 to build a home for a U.S. veteran in Mableton.
Seven Cobb high schools are participating in the 23rd annual Habitat home build with NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. The high school students represent Habitat for Humanity student chapters at Allatoona High School, Campbell High School, Hillgrove High School, Pope High School, Walton High School, and Wheeler High School. The students will build the home over nine Saturdays, concluding on May 4.
The house is being built for U.S veteran Danny R. Burgess. He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 24 and served nine years before being medically discharged for an injury in the line of duty.
“We are so thankful for these committed high school students who volunteer their Saturdays to create a safe, stable home for a hero who has served for us,” said Jessica Gill, Executive Director & CEO, N.W. Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. “We appreciate their dedication to improving a veteran’s life and the betterment of our community.”
