Cobb Schools Hosts Evening of Inspiration for Students with Special Needs

Ballerinas, musicians, cheerleaders, performing artists, and a champion gymnast—the third annual Evening of Inspiration at McEachern High School was a showcase of special abilities.

Cobb students with special needs took command of the stage to wow the audience with their host of talents. The entertaining event gave the students and opportunity to highlight their interests and tout their successes. Some alumni even returned to share what success looks like for them after graduation.

Before the stars took the stage, families had the opportunity to explore a vendor fair which included resources available to help their students succeed. The Evening of Inspiration was co-hosted by the Cobb County School District Special Education Parent Mentors, along with the District 9 PTA and the Douglas County Parent Mentor.

In addition to the inspiring talent show, Cobb’s Special Education Parent Mentors also hosted three training opportunities for parents in the Spring: “The Science Behind Social-Emotional Development and Behavior;” “Social/Emotional Regulation;” and “Parent Advocacy.”

A wide variety of workshops, special events, and the Community Connections Resource Fair will be hosted by the Special Education Parent Mentors during the 2019-20 school year.
