Last year was the first year that Chalker Elementary School explored the world of Odyssey of the Mind tournaments.
This summer, Chalker is sending a team to the World Finals in East Lansing, Michigan May 22-May 25. The Chalker team won the opportunity to compete at the World Finals after their recent performance at the Georgia State Finals at Columbus State University.
Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem-solving program that engages students in their learning by allowing their knowledge and ideas to come to life in an exciting, productive environment. Participants build self-confidence, develop life skills, create new friendships, and are able to recognize and explore their true potential. OotM proves that students can have fun while they learn.
Chalker started their Odyssey of the Mind journey with just two teams, but in a year that number grew to five teams. Chalker was the only Cobb team to send five teams to the regional tournament this year and the only elementary school to have four teams win a chance to keep at the State Finals. Chalker is the only elementary school in the Cobb County School District to advance to the World Finals.
One of Walton High School’s team placed second at the State Finals while another Walton team finished fourth in the same division.
