Cobb Schools Board Votes to Add AC to New School Buses

Students arrive at Rocky Mount Elementary School

Cobb students who step on new school buses will feel the cool rush of AC thanks to a recent vote by the Cobb County School District Board of Education. During the Cobb Schools November meeting, the Board voted to add air conditioning to new buses that the District purchases.

The transition to airconditioned buses starts immediately with the Board’s approval of nine new buses. Cobb Schools’ fleet of 1,000 plus buses already includes some airconditioned buses, a total of 195 to be exact.

Those buses that currently run AC include special education buses and specially-equipped buses capable of transporting a large group of both special needs and non-special needs students.

During the course of the voter-approved Ed-SPLOST V, the District will be able to replace 123 regular-education buses and 89 special education buses. The 212 buses will include AC.
