Looking for Summer Camps? Extend Summer Learning with STEM Fun

Registration has now opened for two exciting, STEM-based summer camp opportunities at Wheeler High School’s Center for Advanced Studies. STEM is the acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math.

The camp’s program fees will cover registration, instruction, daily lunch, a camp T-shirt, and materials for a take-home project. The deadline to register is April 15, 2020, with registration open to students from throughout Cobb. Hours will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the following dates:

  • June 8-12, 2020   Science Spectrum

Designed for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th-grade students who have an interest in science and engineering, this five-day camp will offer students the opportunity to explore an array of specialties including Robotics, Chemistry, Forensics, Electronics, Biotechnology, and Drafting.

Students’ first two days will focus on small group, application-based workshops. After exposure to each area, students get to select one in which to specialize. On Day five, students will come back together to share their experiences and results. A program fee of $310 is due upon registration.

  • June 22-26, 2020    Camp GAMES

Designed for rising 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade girls who have an interest in science and engineering, this week’s small group, application-based workshops will include fields such as Forensics, Chemistry, Engineering, and Genetics. Students will also complete take-away projects related to their areas of interest. A program fee of $260 is due upon registration.
