New Principal Profile Q&A: Tucker Smith, Mount Bethel Elementary

Question: Why are you excited about joining the Mount Bethel Elementary School community?

Answer: “Mount Bethel’s reputation is one of excellence! I am excited to be principal in this community that brings so much engagement, high expectations, and a focus on student achievement. The students at Mount Bethel succeed in many ways, but the one thing that I have heard over and over is that they love going to school! I believe when students feel they matter and that they have a voice, the opportunity to succeed goes through the roof!

I look forward to working with the PTA, Foundation, School Council, and all stakeholders to continue Mount Bethel’s success.”

Question: What does student success look like for you?

Answer: “Success looks different for every child. I truly believe that all students can learn and that it is our role as educators to meet them where they are and provide the daily instruction each one of them needs to grow.”

Question: What do you like most about being an educator/principal or what is your favorite memory as an educator?

Answer: “The best part of my job is the many relationships I have developed over the years! I have had the opportunity to work at seven schools during my career as a teacher and leader, each stop preparing me for this role as Principal at Mount Bethel. Staff, students, families, and community members all make this the best profession!”

Question: Outside school, where might students, parents, or staff members run into you?

Answer: “I have two boys who are involved in athletics, crew, and baseball, so the joy of my life is supporting them and watching them do what they love. I’ll try to squeeze in a round of golf when I can!”
