New Principal Profile Q&A: Billy Pritz, Kemp Elementary

Question: Why are you excited about joining the Kemp Elementary School community?

Answer: “I am so excited to be named principal at Kemp Elementary. I have loved my time here over the past three years as AP and look forward to building even stronger relationships with our amazing community. Kemp is a special place for me as I grew up right down the road from the school and have such fond memories of this area of Cobb.”

Kemp students truly exemplify our mission to LEARN. LEAD. EXCEL on a daily basis. The students at Kemp arrive to school every day with a strong passion for learning and that does not go unnoticed by our teachers. The staff at Kemp love their students and love their school and you can feel the love the moment you enter the building.”

Question: What does student success look like for you?

Answer: “Student success comes in all shapes and sizes and looks different for every student.  Achieving personal and academic goals is a great way to celebrate student success.  Students overcoming obstacles that had previously stood in their way brings me great joy as an educator. Every student deserves the opportunity to experience success and that is what drives the staff at Kemp every day.”

Question: What do you like most about being a principal?

Answer: “Being in education, particularly in an elementary school, has so many perks that are not experienced in any other profession. On any given day, and in any classroom, milestones are being met.  Whether it is a Kindergarten student reading their first book, or a teacher finishing their advanced degree, or a 5th grader breaking their mile time record, success is everywhere. Serving as the leader of a building where all of this is taking place, in my opinion, is the best job on earth.”

Question: Outside school, where might students, parents or staff members run into you?

Answer: “My wife, Christina, and my two children, Will (6) and Austin Kate (4), live in the West Cobb area. We are huge soccer fans and spend a lot of time at the fields and attending Atlanta United games.  I enjoy golfing, spending time with friends and family, and traveling to the beach.”
