Hayes Elementary School played a special role in the 11th annual Make-A-Wish 5k run held. Oct. 8 in Marietta. In August, the Make-A-Wish Foundation challenged Cobb elementary schools to create a t-shirt design for the charity run and Hayes first grader Alexis Castaño’s design was selected as the winner! Principal David Pearce and several Hayes teachers and staff joined in the fun, participating together in the 5k run/walk.
Following the 5k, race organizers gave Alexis a special plaque featuring her artwork and a participation plaque for the school to Mr. Pearce. All participants received the long-sleeve Make-A-Wish 5k t-shirt displaying Alexis’ artwork.
