Dr. Patti Agatston, prevention specialist for the District’s Prevention/Intervention Center, has been invited to participate in a Feb. 29 symposium on Youth Meanness and Cruelty sponsored by the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the MacArthur Foundation, and the Berkman Center for Internet and Society.
Under the leadership of Danah Boyd, Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research and a faculty fellow at the Berkman Center, and John Palfrey, Professor of Law and Vice Dean, Library and Information Resources at Harvard Law School and Faculty Co-Director, this symposium will bring together a small group of scholars, experts, civil society members, and policymakers to interrogate key issues related to youth meanness and cruelty, including the topics of bullying, drama, and harassment.
Dr. Agatston co-authored Cyber Bullying: Bullying in the Digital Age with two colleagues to help combat the growing problem of bullying via the Internet and mobile phone, issues that most parents never had to deal with growing up.
