For the second year in a row, Dowell Elementary School in west Cobb will be sending an Odyssey of the Mind team to the World Finals competition. This team, comprised of seven fourth and fifth grade students, placed fourth in regionals in February, qualifying for advancement to the state competition. Last weekend at the state competition in Columbus, GA, they took second place, which earned them a coveted spot in the World Finals at Iowa State University at the end of May.

Over the next four weeks, the team will be holding fundraisers and soliciting sponsors in order to raise the $1,000 per team member needed to get to World Finals. Team members include Danielle Blakely, Juliana Corbridge, Jacob Fritter, Jocelynn Galvan, Connor Isley, Dylan Layberger and Kerrigan Larkin. The group is coached by Dowell teachers Tamela Isley and Gail Jacobs.
