Lisa Williams, Athletic Director and Varsity Girls’ head basketball coach at Osborne High School, was recently named 2008 Coach of the Year by both the Marietta Daily Journal and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Coach Williams relocated from Memphis, TN in the summer of 2005 to assume these responsibilities at Osborne. Her initial season was a learning experience with a record of 5-19. The Lady Cardinals made major improvements with an overall record in 2006-07 of 18-7. This season proved even better with a 24-6 overall record which included runner-up title in Region 5AAAA and a state playoff victory for the first time in a decade.
Coach Williams has instilled team-building activities and has seen the team unite and develop a “winning” attitude. “My kids changed. Basketball and their commitment were stronger. They’re buying into the new program and system. It’s not about me. It’s about what they do,” said Williams.
