The Acworth Business Association and the Joy Foundation have helped two Acworth schools develop an important collaboration tool for teachers. During the 2007-08 school year, several teachers at McCall Primary and Acworth Intermediate schools participated in a pilot program called Oncourse, allowing them to plan online and share their plans with one another. The program allows teachers to vertically and horizontally align the curriculum and state standards. After a successful pilot, the school began exploring ways to make Oncourse available to as many teachers as possible.
The school’s wish was granted thanks to the Acworth Business Association and the Joy Foundation. At a luncheon for the staffs of McCall Primary and Acworth Intermediate on Thursday, August 7, Alderman Weatherford, as a representative of the Acworth Business Association as well as the Joy Foundation, presented Kathy Curran, principal of Acworth Intermediate, a check for $1300. $300 was contributed on behalf of the Joy Foundation, and $1000 was donated from the ABA.
The generous gift will allow the schools to proceed with expanding the Oncourse program.
