Barbara Dusterhoff, third grade teacher at Dowell Elementary, was recently chosen by the United States Department of State to participate in their new promotional video for the English Language Fellows Program. Ms. Dusterhoff arrived back in the United States on July 3 after a ten month’s stay in Astana, Kazakhstan. She taught English to students studying to be interpreters and English teachers at the Eurasian Humanitarian Institute, a private University in the country’s capital.
After teaching English as a Second Language for ten years, Ms. Dusterhoff wanted to experience first hand what her students had encountered living in a new country not knowing the language. The State Department plans to visit Dowell later this month to film Dusterhoff and her classroom.
